What preppers are getting wrong about collapse is climate breakdown. They might have a stockpile of food and a YouTube channel, which makes them recognisable and a target. Desperate people don't care. - This seems very dark. Many of those YouTube Preppers are on the Far-Right, busy praising Donald Trump & Worshipping Billionaires, sending the Money to the various grifters, and fantasising about being an ICE agent, just for the opportunity for racially driven cruelty.
Preppers starve eventually, too, but they will be the obviously well-fed among us. Long Pig perhaps?

So what happens when agriculture collapses and we can't grow grain anymore, because its too hot and dry?

Nature Depleted By Modern Agriculture
Given that UK wildlife trusts have banned fungus forays and foraging on some of their land, and other foragers are making a living from collecting wild food for the gourmet market, the commoditisation of nature knows no bounds. Capitalism is like a zombie brain infection some people cannot look at anything without thinking of it as a way of making money.
Connection to nature is more than just a personal relationship with nature it is also a philosophy of non-exploitation. This is why the notion of nature connection being as simple as sitting under a tree and asking what it wants is fundamentally lazy, it cannot teach the philosophy of non-exploitation, only taking what you need and treading lightly upon the land is what the tree would teach, but the teaching is useless if you don't already have the tools to understand its response.
In a famine, people will eat anything to sate their hunger, even boiled grass soup. Foragers will denude nature and sell their firage to their neighbours. People will make catastrophic mistakes and die horribly from survival mistakes.
The Dunning-Kruger Effect In Survival
A cognitive bias where people with low ability in a specific area overestimate their own competence.
I have witnessed this 1st hand. The real skill when learning survival skills is knowing that you dont know enough and what limitations of survival skills are. Preppers break this down to 3s, then output videos that repeat these ideas like mantras, but it is more complicated, and catastrophic climate change adds complexity to the problem. A lot of prepper channels downplay climate change and some either ignore or deny it outright.
I write and record content for people wo want it. If you think climate change is BS? Its idiocy gnoring an existential risk because you don't believe in it. Blame is often the denial.. "how can I be responsible?" I can't be bothered with climate deniers, I can't be bothered to explain Anthropogenic Climate Chane to stupid people for whom "Chemtrails" and conspiracy theories are more plausible than science.
Theres little difference between climate denial collapse and collapse- denial Thrutopia. Both are cognitive biases based in a poor understanding in the real nature of our predicament.
Both think that collapse will be a short lived transformative change into a new reality. Both have massive skills deficits based their low levels of skill and a belief that either skills are a backwards move, or that they are expert survivalists.
I know both groups are offended by what I say in my blogs and, YouTube channels.

All we can do is make the slide down more comfortable. This is collapse and probably mass extinction.
